Your 20s are a time of personal growth and developing a unique outlook regarding social issues and current events around the world. Although the spread of globalization has made the world much more accessible, it is still important to experience different cultures first hand. Traveling is one of the most fulfilling experiences you can have while you are finding yourself and what motivates you to become a better person. This list covers four destinations that will test your ability to assimilate to other cultures, become vulnerable in the face of danger, and most importantly, have some fun.
1. The Eurotrip
This old classic never disappoints, and its great for people who are looking to remain within a certain budget. Many movies have tried to capture the magic Europe has to offer, so why not try it for yourself? Some of my favorite destinations are Paris and Italy, and lesser knowns countries like Croatia, Albania and Turkey. Euro travel can also save you money, because you can find reasonable tickets to travel in-between countries.
2. Volunteer in Africa
Volunteering is a great option for those who would like to give back and still enjoy exploring. Africa is a bountiful continent that offers unforgettable landscapes, exotic animals, and above all beautiful and eye opening cultures. If you are thinking of donating your time, Volunteer Africa is a great place to start your research.
3. Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia is a great place to start your travels due to the low cost market for food and general tourist activities. The increase of tourism in popular places like Thailand and Indonesia make it very easy for travelers to explore alone and experience a culture that is incredibly rich in friendly faces, unbelievable food and spiritual guidance to leading a healthy and happy life.
4. Latin America
Latin America is one of my favorite places to visit because of the incredible landscape such as clear water beaches, never ending hiking trails and rainforest ecosystems that house countless of animals. People who are looking to take a break from reality, will truly enjoy visiting places like Costa Rica, where you can surf, hike and connect with locals on a deep level. Its a wonderful opportunity to recharge and get back to your life feeling refreshed and happy.
